Marriage and Family Therapy
Everyone has a story. You may be struggling with common, everyday issues and simply looking for perspective, a good listener, and/or a nonjudgmental, friendly atmosphere to share your pain and gain insight into “your story.” Some people are encouraged by family, friends, or medical professionals to seek help. Seeking help takes courage and dedication. Together we will determine the goals of therapy and explore the presenting problem while promoting self-actualization, empowering self-growth, improving relationships, and reducing emotional suffering.
I am currently a master level student enrolled in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Liberty University. My training has and is providing me with a strong understanding of what it means to integrate mind, body, spirit and community to help individuals, children, adolescents and their families as well as premarital and marital counseling.
I think it is important to understand that one does not have to be diagnosed with a mental health condition or illness to seek services. As an intern, I can provide therapy for issues an insurance company may not cover, such as marital issues, relational concerns, adjustment and transition difficulties, and grief/bereavement. Additionally, when one is receiving services from an intern, you are getting the benefit of having two clinicians with different skill sets and expertise, because I am required to meet weekly with a supervisor. Weekly meetings consist of review interventions and techniques, case conceptualization, and collaborating on treatment options. Essentially, receiving treatment from me provides the benefit of not just my knowledge, experience, and expertise, but also that of my supervisor.
